Our days can be like the weather. Metaphorically speaking, we have great/sunny days and other days we have bad/rainy days. Life isn’t perfect and no matter how positive we try to be, let’s face it, bad days happen and sometimes Murphy’s Law is in full effect and you are just waiting for the sun to come out and the rainbow to appear (sigh). After all, they do say after every storm there is a rainbow right?!
What if I say you can make someone’s day and shine some light on their rainy days, how you might ask? A box full of sunshine!!!!! I didn’t know this was such a thing but I came across it and thought what a lovely idea and how cool it would be to do and turn someone’s day around.
It has scientifically been proven that we (“humans”) receive more pleasure giving than receiving so you will be doing something sweet for someone and get just as much pleasure giving than being the recipient. Bonus!!! 🙂
The one I created was for my little sister who was having more rainy days than sunny ones and being that we live 800 miles away I felt helpless and wished I could have just been there with her and this led me to the discovery of a box full of sunshine!
Depending what the recipient is going through you can select items they would find enlightening or useful, just make sure it’s yellow. 🙂

Supplies for Box
- Yellow Shredded Crinkle Paper
- Scrapbook paper (buy at Michael's store for $.54 ea.) - I chose the DIY option of making the interior of the box yellow using and cutting up scrapbook paper but for ease and less effort there are pre-printed stickers that all you have to do is stick it to the box and voilà! You only need the rest of the below supplies if you decide to do the DIY option as well.
- Modge Podge
- Shipping box- You can reuse one you have already or purchase at store.
- Scissors
- Black Sharpie for writing
