Guerneville, merely an hour from San Francisco is a great location for a short glamping weekend getaway in Sonoma County from the normal day hustle and bustle. It is surrounded by mother earth’s tallest trees, rivers, over 500 wineries, and other fun activities. If you are looking for a weekend getaway and seeking adventure, you will love this itinerary that I have crafted for you. I guarantee that memories will be made!
Itinerary At A Glance
Day 1: Arrive at AutoCamp and Ziplining
Day 2: Bike Ride to the Armstrong Redwoods and enjoy the rest of the day at the beach
Day 3: Spa Day!
What to Pack
I will link some of my go-to favorite items below for inspiration to help with your packing!
- Hiking boots or sneakers to enjoy the beautiful hike through the Redwoods. These are my all time favorite hiking boots and sneakers!
- Comfortable jeans for ziplining to avoid bad chaffing of the harness
- Swimsuit to enjoy a day on the river. This one is my fav ! I have it in two colors. I have worn these in other adventures here.
- Don’t forget the sunscreen
- Sunnies
- Flashlight/ LED lamp(s) – It gets extremely dark at the camp. We brought these that we use for our camping trips.
- Rain Boots
Where to Stay
I’ve always loved and enjoyed camping but I have also always wanted to experience what “glamping” was all about so we stayed at AutoCamp in Guerneville, CA and I LOVED it! The ease and convenience were great and you still get the nature vibes of camping but with all the modern amenities. You have the option to have a cookout with your personal fire pit by your airstream or you have the option to drive about 5 minutes down the road where there are restaurants and local convenience stores. At the Guerneville location, the camp is surrounded by fresh air, beautiful trees, and away from the big city and has three types of glamping styles, an airstream, luxury tent, or a 42 square foot camper nestled amongst the Redwoods which was AMAZING. We really enjoyed the airstream so much that we stayed here twice!
Day One
Let the adventures begin! Head to Sonoma Canopy Tours at the Alliance Redwoods for an exhilarating adventure through the redwood canopies! If you have hiked/walked through the redwoods before you will definitely enjoy this as you get to see the tall trees from a different view and of course what better way to do it than through zip lining. If you’re an adrenaline junky such as myself or want to conquer your fear definitely give this a try. There are three different tours, (two courses) Tree Tops Tour, Forest Flight Tour, and Night Flight Tour. Yup, that’s right, they have night tours 🙂 How cool is that?!?! We did the Tree Tops Tour which is 250 ft. above the forest floor that includes 7 zips, 2 sky bridges, and a thrilling 5-foot rappel to end the adventure. Let me tell you it was 2.5 hours of pure fun!
Day Two
To continue your weekend getaway. First things first, grab breakfast at the clubhouse and help yourself to some complimentary coffee, tea, biscuits, croissants, and OMG the cut oranges to make freshly squeezed orange juice! Now that you are fueled for your continued adventure and ready to go, head out and take one of the complimentary bikes on a ride to the Armstrong Redwoods. On the way back treat yourself to a scrumptious scoop of homemade ice cream at Nimble & Finn’s which is in the town’s cute former historic bank building. What’s next you might ask? Head to Johnson’s Beach, The Russian River, and enjoy the rest of the day by the beach and all the fun activities (Canoes, kayaks, and pedal boats) they have to offer!

Day Three
After a past couple of days of thrill, activities, and adventure it’s time to put your body and mind to rest with a visit to the spa. Not just any traditional spa, the Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary. This place is a gem! If you are one that enjoys the beauty of nature, are in touch with your spiritual side, and enjoy trying something new I would definitely recommend this place. This is the only spa in North America that offers their unique enzyme baths which is a freak of nature (seriously). The enzyme bath is described by this spa as an “aromatic mixture of ground cedar and rice bran, infused with enzymes created by a biological catalyst imported from Japan that triggers fermentation, hence the steam rising from the “bath,” which is, actually, not wet, but rather humid from perpetual fermentation. And warm.” So basically it feels like warm moisture wood shavings on your body but the relaxation and the results are amazing. The meditation garden is absolutely stunning and a great place to unwind, be present, and enjoy the relaxation. You have the option to choose a meal package and have lunch by the creek which was delicious and a great start to our spa treatment and we left this place only to look forward to our next visit!
